About This Giveaway
The JBL Music Academy Contest 2026 gives aspiring musicians, singers, songwriters and producers in 22 participating countries an opportunity to attend a professional music-development programme in Amsterdam. Thirty selected artists will receive travel, four nights of accommodation, ground transportation and access to studio, performance, branding and music-business sessions. Applying is free and does not require a JBL purchase.
About the JBL Music Academy Contest 2026
JBL Music Academy is an international skill-based programme created for emerging music artists. The 2026 edition is sponsored by HARMAN International Industries Incorporated and is presented publicly under the JBL brand.
Applications opened on June 1, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. CET and are scheduled to close on August 14, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CET. JBL expects to notify and announce the selected class during September, with the Academy taking place in Amsterdam between October and November 2026.
This is not a random sweepstakes. Eligible applications are reviewed and scored by representatives of the sponsor, Martin Garrix and his artist team.
What Can Selected Artists Receive?
Thirty selected Winner Artists receive a JBL Music Academy experience in Amsterdam. The prize includes round-trip economy travel from an eligible participating country to an airport near the Academy location.
When a flight is not practical because of the winner’s departure location, the sponsor may select another suitable form of transportation. The prize also includes relevant airport and hotel ground transportation and four nights of hotel accommodation for one person.
Winners receive access to Academy activities such as masterclasses led by music-industry experts, studio time, performance opportunities and networking sessions. The public programme page also describes sessions covering songwriting, recording, mixing, mastering, personal branding, social media, public relations, publishing, distribution, streaming, radio and bookings.
Food and drinks provided as part of the covered Academy event are included. The sponsor has not published a cash value for the complete prize package.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must legally reside in one of the participating countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India excluding Tamil Nadu, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States or Vietnam.
Applicants must have internet access and be able to communicate in English at an intermediate level because the Academy sessions are conducted in English.
The official FAQ describes the programme as intended for artists who are at an early stage of their journey. It also states that applicants currently signed to a record label are not accepted. Applicants should confirm this operational requirement on the current application form.
How to Apply
Register Through the JBL Website
Visit the official JBL Music Academy page and enter your name, email address and eligible country. Agree to the contest rules and applicable privacy requirements, then submit the initial registration.
JBL sends login information by email. Check the spam or filtered-message folder if the message does not appear. The registration stage alone is not a completed entry.
Complete the Artist Application
Use the emailed credentials to access the full application. Provide your date of birth, country, telephone number, artist information and requested social or music-profile links.
The information must be accurate and current. JBL may require valid identification or a passport during the selection and prize-verification process.
Upload Your Original Demos
Each applicant may upload a maximum of three demos containing their own original musical creations. The work must not contain unlicensed samples, copyrighted recordings or other third-party content unless the applicant owns all required rights.
The submitted material must not have been published or entered in another competition. Entrants should keep original recordings, session files and other evidence showing that they created the work.
Submit a Motivation Video
The application also requires a motivation video lasting no more than two minutes. The video should explain why the applicant wants to participate in JBL Music Academy and may show the applicant’s voice, image and likeness.
The video must not include anyone under 18 and must comply with the contest’s content, copyright and privacy restrictions.
AI and Content Restrictions
The official rules prohibit submitted content generated wholly or partly through artificial intelligence, machine learning or a similar automated content-generation system.
Entries must not contain illegal, violent, hateful, discriminatory, defamatory, obscene or otherwise inappropriate content. They must not include celebrities, private individuals, protected branding or other identifiable third-party material without the required written permission.
JBL may reject an application that does not meet the content standards or that the sponsor does not wish to associate with its brand.
Entry Limit
Each eligible person may submit only one unique application during the full contest period. That application may include up to three demos and one motivation video.
Creating multiple identities or accounts, using several email addresses or employing automated tools to submit applications may result in disqualification.
How Winners Are Selected
The applications are evaluated using four equally weighted criteria:
- Artistic Quality — 25%: Technical skill, execution and emotional impact.
- Originality — 25%: Distinctive musical ideas, arrangements and creative identity.
- Brand Fit — 25%: Alignment with the identity and values associated with JBL.
- Creativity — 25%: Innovative ideas, experimentation and fresh musical perspectives.
Judges from the sponsor, Martin Garrix and his artist team select the Winner Artists. If submissions receive equal scores, the tied entries may be reviewed again under the same criteria until the tie is resolved.
Because this is a judged competition, numerical odds of selection are not published. The practical likelihood of winning depends on the number and quality of eligible applications received.
Winner Notification and Verification
Selected artists are expected to receive an email no later than September 24, 2026. A potential winner must respond within 48 hours and confirm availability to attend the Academy.
If a selected artist does not respond, cannot travel, cannot satisfy the eligibility requirements or fails to return requested documents, the sponsor may select a runner-up. The rules permit up to three replacement attempts.
A potential winner is not confirmed until JBL verifies identity, eligibility, submission ownership and availability.
Travel and Accommodation Conditions
The prize is for one artist and does not include a guest. The winner must travel on the dates and itinerary arranged or approved by the sponsor.
The winner is responsible for obtaining a valid passport, Netherlands visa or other required travel authorization. Travel insurance and documentation costs are not included unless JBL confirms otherwise.
Expenses not expressly listed in the prize remain the winner’s responsibility. The prize cannot be transferred, assigned or exchanged for cash.
Taxes and Additional Costs
Winners are responsible for applicable local taxes, duties and reporting obligations arising from the prize. JBL may request tax or identity documentation before finalizing travel arrangements.
The sponsor does not reimburse unused components of the prize or pay the difference when the actual travel cost is lower than anticipated.
