About the HUAWEI XMAGE Awards 2026

Who Can Enter?

The competition is open to Huawei phone users around the world. Each participant must be at least 18 years old or must have reached the age of majority in their legal jurisdiction.

Every photograph and video must have been captured using a Huawei phone. There is no restriction on the Huawei phone model or on when the eligible photograph or video was captured.

How to Enter

Participants can enter through the official XMAGE Awards website by signing in with a HUAWEI ID, completing the requested participant information and uploading an eligible work.

The official FAQ also identifies HUAWEI Community, My HUAWEI and Instagram as possible submission channels. Availability and instructions may differ by country or regional campaign.

For an Instagram entry, the participant must follow the official XMAGE Awards account, publish the eligible work with the required #HUAWEIXMAGE hashtag, keep the account public and allow direct messages from non-followers.

Photo File Requirements

Photographs must be submitted in JPG, JPEG or PNG format. Each image must not exceed 30MB.

The official FAQ states that photographs can use third-party processing software, but image processing must be completed on a Huawei phone. Compositing and similar image-alteration techniques are prohibited.

Entrants should retain complete EXIF information. Missing EXIF data may affect the judging result because the organizer uses the metadata to evaluate or verify the submitted work.

Video File Requirements

Videos must have been recorded using a Huawei phone and must be submitted in MP4 format. Each video file must not exceed 400MB.

Unlike still images, videos may be edited using software on a phone or computer. The original video capture must still come from a Huawei phone.

Entry Limit

Each participant can submit up to 30 approved works. The total may include individual photographs, grouped photo submissions and videos.

A work that does not pass the organizer’s approval process does not count toward the published limit. Entering the same photograph in several categories counts as several submitted works.

Selection Process

After submission, approved works are screened by the organizing committee. The finalists are then considered by a panel of photography, visual-media and arts professionals.

The panel selects the XMAGE 100. Three Grand Prize Winners are subsequently chosen from those 100 works based on the judges’ evaluations and the creative intent demonstrated by each work.

Because the competition is based on artistic evaluation rather than chance, numerical odds of winning are not published. Selection depends on the number, quality, originality and eligibility of the approved works.

Winner Notification

Huawei plans to contact winning participants by telephone or email. The winner list is also scheduled to be published on the official XMAGE Awards website in November 2026.

The official FAQ does not state a fixed response deadline. Entrants should provide accurate contact information, monitor their inbox and telephone messages and respond promptly to any communication that can be verified as coming from Huawei.

Copyright and Use of Submitted Work

Entrants retain copyright ownership of their submitted works. However, the competition includes a broad content-use authorization that should be reviewed carefully before entering.

Participants authorize Huawei and its associated companies to use submitted works worldwide without a licence fee for two years from the official contest start date. For shortlisted works, the stated authorization period is ten years.

The organizer may use or modify the submitted materials for online and print media, exhibitions, retail displays, outdoor advertising, marketing, product development, manufacturing, distribution, service and training activities.

The authorization may also be delegated to third-party partners without additional approval. Material already deployed during the authorization period may remain in use after the period expires, although the FAQ states that new uses should not begin after expiration.

Taxes and Creation Funds

The $10,000 and $1,500 creation funds are described as pre-tax amounts. Tax withholding, reporting requirements and the final amount received may depend on the winner’s country or region.

The accessible global FAQ does not publish one universal tax process or payment schedule. Winners should review the documents supplied by Huawei and obtain independent tax guidance where necessary.

Important Deadline Information

The official FAQ states that entries close at midnight on August 16, 2026, Beijing Standard Time, GMT+8. Because the term midnight can refer to either the beginning or end of a calendar day, entrants should avoid submitting on the final day.

After the deadline, submitted works cannot be uploaded, changed or deleted through the competition platform.
